Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Election: The Election Commission of India on September 5 issued a notification for filing of nomination papers by candidates for the third and final phase of the upcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
40 seats out of 90 member assembly JK Assembly The last date for filing nominations for the third phase is September 12. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on September 13. The last date for withdrawal of nominations is September 17.
According to the notification, the voting will take place on October 1 from 7 am to 6 pm.
Jammu and Kashmir Voting for the 90-member assembly is being held in three phases. The first phase of voting is scheduled on September 18, while the other two phases will be held on September 25 and October 1.
Counting of votes will take place on October 8.
The election, being held for the first time in more than a decade, is expected to witness a multi-cornered contest for the 90 seats in the erstwhile state. National Convention and Congress are contesting the election in alliance, People's Democratic Party and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are the other two major players.
