New Criminal Laws: Three new criminal laws have come into force in the country from Monday (1 July). Now the Indian Civil Defence Code, Indian Justice Code and Indian Evidence Act have come into force in place of IPC and CrPC. With the advent of these laws, there have been many changes in the policing system as well. Now if a person wants to register a case, he will not have to go to the police station. Apart from this, videography will now be mandatory during search or seizure in any person's house.
According to the Indian Judicial Code, now a case can be registered on the information given through electronic communication. In simple words, now a case can be registered through e-mail, WhatsApp, and CCTNS portal. For this, now any person will not need to go to the police station to register a case. If e-FIR is registered, then the victim will have to go to the police station within three days. If this does not happen then his FIR will be considered fake.

Under the new laws implemented across the country, now no person will need to go to the police station personally to register a case. At the same time, rules like Zero FIR, use of electronic methods like SMS for summons, online registration of police complaint, videography of the scene of crime for heinous crimes have been included in the new laws. Under this new system, immediate reporting of crime and quick action by the police will be of great help.
Who will be exempted from going to the police station under the new laws?
It is being told that women, people below 15 years of age, elderly people above 60 years of age and handicapped people or people suffering from serious diseases will be exempted from going to the police station. They can take help from the police sitting at their homes. At the same time, under the new laws, the victims will have the right to get regular information on the progress of their case within 90 days. The victim has also been given the right to information. The police will have to give the victim information about the status of investigation and charge sheet in the case filed by him.
