Lighting Brand Philips Hue has quietly launched refreshes of its Pillar and Runner spotlights in Europe. Their respective lines include several models with many similarities between them.
Starting from the pillar line, they hang down from the ceiling replacing the main light fixtures. The company's most recent releases in this series include GU10 BulbCapable of a maximum brightness level of 400 lumens and a total “lifetime of 25,000 hours.”
The lights also have a white ambience. NotebookCheckThis feature allows users to set the color temperature ranging from 2,200K for warm colors to 6,500K to mimic daylight. You can remotely control up to 10 different pillar fixtures through the official Philips Hue App for Android or iOS. The brightness of the light can be dimmed by pressing the button on the side of the pillar or through the mobile app.
Voice commands are supported Google Assistant and Alexa; however, you’ll need a “compatible Google Nest or Amazon Echo devices.” Philips Hue says homeowners can connect the pillar lights to Hue Bright to get additional features, such as the ability to set up automated lighting schedules.
There are three different Pillar models available for purchase in the EU. Base Light Price €89.99On double spotlight €159.99and extension lighting cost €69.99However, the last one lacks a dimmer switch.
Double and Triple Lights
Philips Hue's Runner light has the same GU10 bulb with the same lumen and colour temperature amount. Not surprisingly, the bulb's lifespan is also set at 25,000 hours. The main differences between these and the Pillar series depend on the model. For example, the main Runner light is arguably more flexible. It goes up the wall with its light beam at a 40-degree angle, so you can think of it as a small personal lamp.
There are also double and triple runner spotlights. These, like the pillar, are mounted on the ceiling, but are likely to be brighter. Each fixture emits 400 lumens of light. Adding everything together, the double runner model has a maximum output of 800 lumens, and the triple model has a maximum output of 1,200 lumens.
Other than that, the Runner series has all the same features as the Pillar line. Voice commands via Alexa, compatibility with the Hue bridge, the ability to control up to 10 lights via the app, and so on.
